Dedaena (Alphabet Book)

We want to teach parents how to be supportive and how to understand the children's universe better.

Story

Everyone wants to be a good parent. But, a parent has to mentally prepare to handle conflict and juggle anxious decisions at a moment's notice. Raising good humans is an enormous responsibility. That's why parents need as much help as they can get.

Without having information about positive parenting, many people in Georgia resort to raising kids with outdated methods that are often violent. Physically harming or emotionally abusing a child is unacceptable. On the contrary, positive reinforcement has to be a vital part of any parenting style. Your children must desire to listen and trust you rather than fear you. Positive parenting motivates children to be the best versions of themselves, following their parents example.

"Dedaena" is the name of the original Georgian language textbook that helps kids learn how to read and write in Georgian. Dedaena educates them on understanding the adult world better. We wanted to do a somewhat similar thing for parents. With this book we want to teach parents how to be supportive and understand the children's universe better.

UNICEF wanted to raise awareness around this issue. So, together in partnership with leading behavioral scientists and Georgian child psychologists, we created an Adult version of this book - "Parents' Dedaena." In this book everyone can find information on all aspects of parenting, including the exercises that help parents improve communication between themselves and their children.

Our book follows the alphabet, outlining the stories and positive coping mechanisms. We'll give parents specific tools to help them change and improve their parenting methods. We want parents to rethink their approach and realize that violence is never the answer.

We hope to reach as many parents as possible with this book. So, they would no longer raise children with violence and instead learn about positive parenting and instill these values in future generations.
